China Investment Advisor in the Energy Industry Research Department has lately learned that the 2009 Global Sustainable Energy Investment Trends Report released by the United Nations on June 3 showed that in 2008 the total investment of world's solar energy project reached USD33.5 billion . The data also shows that in 2008 the total investment of the global renewable energy (including wind, solar, bio-energy, and geothermal, etc.) amounted to USD117 billion, of which the amount of investment in wind was USD51.8 billion.

Earlier data shows that in 2007 the investment of world’s solar industry reached USD28.6 billion; however, since 2004 the annual average growth rate of investment in the global solar energy industry has been up to 254%, ranking first in the clean energy of all sub-industries.

Although clean energy, especially solar energy industry, has suffered great loss from financial crisis, governments continue to look strongly promoting clean energy as the most important part of future energy strategy, for example, the new Obama Administration’s energy strategy in the USA, the "Solar-Roofs Plan", and the Chinese government recently launched and the forthcoming revival plan of new energy industries. It can be foreseen, for a long period of time in the future, this rise of "green gold rush" of global energy industry since 2000 will still continue and the pace that clean energy replacing traditional one will also be accelerating.
